Zambia Poverty

From 1993 to 2006 the poverty line has decreased by 22%.  Zambia fell into poverty, especially after international copper prices declined in the 1970s. About 68% of Zambians live below the recognized national poverty line.  If the Zambians dont have enough money they can not buy filters for themselves.    Zambian people also cannot get jobs because there are no jobs available in Zambia because the business cannot sell products because people are poor.

Zambian Water Crisis

There is a terrible water crisis in Zambia.  Over 5.7 million people in Zambia do not have water.  Therefore the Zambian population dosen't have enough water and they are not getting the proper nutrition so there health is in danger.  The reasons why there is not water in Zambia is because the environment is terrible and the heat evaporates the little water they do have.  The water quality is also bad, the water is dirty and people will drink whatever water they can find, even if the water is in a mucky ditch.   The population is another problem because the population is so big not everyone can have water.  Zambia's poor economy definitely dosen't help the problem because Zambia's government dosen't have the money to provide everyone in the country with clean water.  Those are just some of the reasons behind the water crisis in Zambia.

Helping Hands Day

I had a good experience during my helping hands day for my school.  Helping hands day is a day when my school is divided into groups that perform different tasks to help contribute to the community.  I was assigned to a group that helped organize and deliver books to Africa.  My group would organize books into different categories such as science, math, literature for grades ranging from elementary school to college.  I felt as though my helping hands day was a success because I was able to make a difference in the world and I felt good about myself after I did it to.  When I looked around and I saw volunteers, people who work at the warehouse, and my peers putting away there differences and all working together for a higher cause, I was proud to have contributed to the less fortunate children in Africa.

Hello World

Hello, my name is Joseph.  I am a student attending Mt. Vernon middle school.  I am in Mr. Boden's IT 100 class.  I have learned a lot of interesting and helpful information in his class.  In my opinion the most helpful information was that to find certain words on websites on a mac you press control f and any word or words that you searched in the box will appear on whatever website you are on.  That information is important to me because I have to research many things for school assignment and by using this method searching becomes much faster and more efficient.
